Inspiring clip, thanks for posting and sharing it with us here. When I turned 55 I invited the three people who know me the best - Me, Myself and I - out for an evening introspective to a rooftop bar, south of the Old City walls of Jerusalem. I also took a pen and a notepad. I drank beer I don't normally drink, I ordered food and revelled in the fine evening view of the biblical valleys below, took a deep breath, relaxed and then dove deep within. To the chatty people on the roof casting a glance in my direction, I appeared silent and calm on the outside, however, they remained blissfully unaware of the storm raging on the inside. After a while, pen was applied to paper and some lists appeared with titles like What Do I Want To Do With My Life? , Who Am I? , How Can I Improve Myself? , How Can I Reach A High Potential? and Where The Hell Are The Chips/French Fries I Ordered? well, service was slow that night. The point is, the above really helped focus my attention on Who I Am, How I Can Be A Better Me, What I Need To Do To Eradicate The Shittier Side Of My Personality, and certainly helped sort the directions and paths I could choose to persue. This, coupled with emptying my mind during a twice weekly 20-minute meditation (I always fall asleep after the 5-minutes opening breathing exercise but I get the best sleep ever) continues to steer my being and for sure keeps me well-focussed. If you're reading this and are stuck in life, or are afraid of going introspective, then that's perfect because you're ripe for self discovery, definitely ready to move on to the next step which is to enrich your life further. All I'm suggesting is to take those three people who've known you the best throughout your lifetime - Me, Myself and I - out for coffee, lunch, tea, beer - together with a pen and notepad (no devices allowed, too distracting) - take a deep breath and go discover who you really are.

I agree, that most people spend too little time with themselves, I mean, they spend time with themselves, but often it's not quality time. Same as we don't always have to talk to others, we also don't always have to talk to ourselves, to be close to ourselves. We can paint a picture, we can repair something in the house, we can take a bath, we can do Yoga or Qigong - more important than asking ourselves questions is to really be in touch with our feelings for my point of view.

You don't have to have a purpose in life. If you have, good for you, if you don't, its alright. If you have a purpose, go for it, if not, just avoid any form of suffering as best you can, and live as best as you can. That too is a purpose. You don't have to conform to anyone's ideal, any guru's, and even me. Those at the table, who cannot answer as to what is their purpose in life, should not be chastized, or feel bad. They could have said Yeah, ok, so what if I don't know. Just knowing enough to avoid a life in prison, or being a destiture, is sufficient purpose in life. Don't have to be something great or altruistic.
