The happy secret to better work | Shawn Achor

We believe that we should work to be happy, but could that be backwards? In this fast-moving and entertaining talk from TEDxBloomington, psychologist Shawn Achor argues that actually happiness inspires productivity. TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the Sixth Sense wearable tech, and Lost producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at If you have questions or comments about this or other TED videos, please go to

Какой молодчина!!! Выступление потрясающее, все наши комики нервно курят в сторонке. А совместно с ними и философы с психологами.

TED talks are like medicine. They remedy so many diseases. But a healthy person still only lives to be 120. And then, you know, they die.

i look to take each situation as it comes noting on its pros and cons.
red 9 3 months ago
just look at instagram, life affirming quotes and presentation of being a positive person to get oneself ahead and being liked by everybody in environments that perpetuate negativity
red 9 3 months ago
to positively people to fit in, negative behaviour becomes the norm with lots of affirmations and postings of positivity which is a sheen to cover negativity
red 9 3 months ago
there are so many people trying to look for the negative people to fix, that the positive people are routinely ignored to the point they become negative. and negative affectation and behaviour dominates for a false show of positivity

our culture: work hard, then you will prosper, and then you will be happy. The Happiness Advantage: become happy, it will help you work better/smarter, and that will lead to more prosperity/success. (Plus you'll be more pleasant to be around.) Liked the phrase cultural ADHD. meditation forces you to learn to focus on one thing instead of multi-tasking which can lead to more errors.
